Settlement Lokbatan is central and city-kind settlement of Garadagh district. The settlement is located in Garadagh area of mud volcano of Azerbaijan. There were18 heavy volcanoes. Latest volcano was noted in 2001.
Origin of name Lokbatan concerns caravan way between Khoja Hasan and Sangachal, i.e. this settlement was caravan station, camel drowned here. That's why, name Lok-batan was founded.
Territory of the settlement was measured corresponding to fountain of oil-well No 45 in 1931-32s. In these years massive of dwelling homes from cane was founded in S. Orujov Street. During this period representatives of different nationalities came here for work in oil field.
